A person who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to children at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his concerns.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "treat game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative said the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member contacted the police once more.
She said Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
